The city of Bergamo and its Orobic Alps are a successful example of balance between Urban (city of Bergamo) and Non-Urban (Orobic Valleys) relation can thrive sustainably and effectively.
Specialised cheese producers can be found in this beautiful area, we say specialised because it has been demonstrated that the local expertise of making cheese is not a mere mixture of ingredients (milk, rennet and salt) or a set of aromas and flavors: artisanal cheese making is an anthropological and cultural heritage made of People, expertise and traditional practices (Products), which marked the time and the lives of the people of the Orobic Valleys (Places), centuries after centuries and together constitute the Creative Asset of the territory.
The CKP was applied to document in a book, in a dedicated website and through a responsive WebApp the historical and geographical reason that allowed the people of the Orobic Valleys to develop such uniqueness over the centuries.
We started this project in order to highlight the traditional knowledge of Bergamo and its valleys related to the cheese-making techniques and its cheesemakers. Now we want to invite all the Creative Cities and regions with this asset to participate in the project, highlighting their traditions related to the cheeses!
The objectives of this project are to:
Create a printed resource dedicated to the project and create a cultural resource online. Provide content for an interactive publication “Artisanal Cheeses of the Creative Cities” using QR code, which allows the users to access multimedia information, and have an immersive experience in the world of the cheese artisans.
Highlight the culture, the tradition and the efforts of the cheesemakers and breeders, behind the tradition of the traditional cheeses.
Promote a new format of intra-clusters project for the Unesco Creative Cities Network.
Create a stronger relation among the Creative Cities, the regions and the Knowledge Keepers involved in the project, increasing also awareness and value of Knowledge Keepers products and places.
